The Hope Chapel Family Learning Centre in Ashton-under- Lyne supports the families of children who are failing in school. The schools nominate families and the parents are then supported in literacy, numeracy, ESOL, SharePlus and Speakeasy programmes. This helps break the cycle of non-achievement, curbs exclusions and helps the parents support their children while gaining in confidence and employability themselves. The Hope Chapel Centre has found that parents engaged in learning with them often go on to become Classroom Assistants. The centre also supports Classroom Assistants in building skills and gaining transferable qualifications.
