What is the situation with the wider key skills units of Working with Others, Problem Solving and Improving own Learning and Performance?

The wider key skills specifications are approved for use as national standards; they will have pilot qualification status from September 2004.  The wider key skills are assessed through the portfolio and there will be Part A questions supplied by the awarding bodies to check understanding of the process.  The responses will be assessed by the centre and externally moderated by the awarding bodies.

The revised standards for the wider key skills units are available from the QCA website. Alternatively, you can obtain hard copies by calling the QCA Publications Line on 01787 88444, quoting the order reference QCA/99/437 for Levels 1-3.  The standards for Levels 4-5 are also available for all six key skills units from the QCA website or again through their Publications Line quoting order reference QCA/99/455.
