Inspection

Inspection provides an independent evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of an organisation in meeting the needs of its learners.

'The new Ofsted brings together the wide experience of four inspectorates to make a greater difference for every child, and for all young people and adult learners, in England. Their educational, economic and social well-being will promote our success as a country'. (Ofsted 2007)

Those responsible for managing key skills need to make an accurate assessment about the quality of their key skills provision based on rigorous and robust data. The inspection of key skills provision will depend on what the school’s self-evaluation form (SEF) or the college’s self-assessment report (SAR) has raised as potential issues that inspectors wish to explore further.
